ok. i wanta know more about you all. so i was thinking of a way i can make getting that information entertaining.
and here’s what i’ve come up with…
you ask me a question about myself – but you have to answer that same question about yourself.
ooo, tricky-tam. myup.
ask/answer away!
What are you afraid of?
When i get in an uncreative funk, my biggest fear is that i was never creative in the first place.
wow. that is quite a fear. then how do you feel when you create something?
my fear: failing… by not achieving and taking risks.
i fear no one will like it. or even worse, they may like it too much. i'm a little complicated.
ohmy. have you had your estrogen levels checked?
yeah, everybody thought i was gay growing up. i don't know if it was the way i dressed, or my overwhelming love of American Musical Theatre. That's right i'm a Gleek!
ha! well, i thought no such thing. just figured with your conflicting emotions you were either hormonal or in need of a deep tissue massage.
and…i still cant get through an episode of Glee. ive tried. i cant. end of story.
Name a movie in the last 10 years you can watch over and over.
For me it would be 'High Fidelity.' It never gets boring.
that is one of brents favorite movies. ever.
this is a hard question for me to answer. im a terrible movie watcher. im too antsy. cant sit still that long. lets see…
still thinking.
probably a comedy.
or not.
hmmm…dang this is hard. im typing/thinking out loud =D
i am legend.
yah. anything with will smith in it.
Ok, I'll try something else. I'll go with a musical question.
If there was one instrument you could play that would have you compared to the greats who play it, what would it be?
As much as I like rock music, I also like jazz. If I could, I would love to be able to play the saxophone.
cello.
i LOVE the cello. it is such a beautiful instrument!
If you could travel to anywhere in the world right now, and money didn't matter, where would you go?
Me: I think I'd go stay in the English countryside. Or maybe Bhutan. It's a toss-up.
honestly…waynesville, mo. not because i want to be there for the place – but my mom, sister and nieces and nephews are there. its been 7 years since ive seen them. i miss them terribly!
wow 7 years is crazy. The longest I've gone without heading home was nearly 2 years. My folks are heading my way soon for a 10-day visit – very exciting
What is the best thing about where you live?
Mine: it is a great place to raise kids. And! It is really beautiful.
southern oregon, i believe, is one of the most aesthetically pleasing to the eye places to live. everywhere i turn there is a mountain. there are rivers and lakes galore. greenery like no other. the weather here in the valley is pretty amazing too. we are 30 miles form the CA border. we often get lumped into the "it rains all the time in OR" description. but people have no idea that we get less rain than southern ca. makes me laugh.
sad! I accidentally voted thumbs down for this but definitely meant to thumbs up. =] love me some Oregon.
What's your favorite guilty entertainment based guilty pleasure that your spouse just doesn't get?
For me, it's Monty Python's Flying Circus
Jason I think wives just don't get Monty Python period. I think it's the whole dry humor thing.
I LUUURRVVVVE Monty Python. But I am also colonial, so that's [robably why. I get it. I actually struggle to find a lot of US comedies even remptely giggle-worthy
I'm also colonial, and not a wife. So that's probably why I think it's doubly funny
Wow. Note to self… check spelling.
brent loves monty python!!
im gonna have to ask brent about this one… hold on.
[and he's having a hard time with it]
his words….you dont do anything for yourself. its always about me and the kids.
so…maybe he doesnt get that.
hmmm….
No one asked me… but I LOVE Monty Python. Love it, Love it, Love….
If you could eat just one food for the rest of your–
Oop. Sorry.
That’s been done.
ha!!!!
what about you?
If you could have any job in the world (no matter how silly, crazy, unachievable in real life) what would it be?
Me: A spy.
a spy? ok. that sounds fun! but only if your phone is in the sole of your shoe
i'd open a restaurant where i served wholesome food. fun foods – but cooked in a healthy way. and i would serve controlled amounts of it. not heaping 7 servings of mashed potatoes.
i would call it…. "Portions".
How fun. I also think it'd be fun to open a restaurant that was just desserts. It of course probably wouldn't be healthy.
This maybe to personal… But I'll ask.
What is God speaking or what word is He giving into you right now, this moment, and this second?
Me: He's telling me to expand… spread my tent pegs. I've gotten too fatty. exercise my faith.
wow! thats a big word, charge, Hes given you. but its in you girl!
mine…purpose.
like i said earlier this week…if what im doing doesnt have purpose, it doesnt have me. ive too much to do in this life yet to continue allowing the unnecessary to act as cement on the tops of my feet.
If you could live in another country, community, city for a year and do missions there. Where would it be?
Me? Southern Mexico
why southern mexico?
me? right here. i dont have the missionary abroad calling like many do. i have the missionary right here calling like all of us. and im ok with that. i used to feel guilty that i had no desire to go to another country for missions. then i realized…thats not the part of the body i play.
me too. I've always thought – if you're not reaching into your backyard, why go overseas?
What is your life song?
Mine: Testify to Love
i remember when kassidi used to listen to that song over and over every day. so awesome!
my song… come as you are by pocket full of rocks
He’s not mad at you
And He’s not disappointed
His grace is greater still
Than all of your wrong choices
He is full of mercy
And He is ever kind
Hear His invitation
His arms are open wide
Chorus:
You can come as you are
With all your broken pieces
And all your shameful scars
The pain you hold in your heart
Bring it all to Jesus
You can come as you are
Louder than the voice
That whispers you’re unworthy
Hear the sound of love
That tells a different story
Shattering your darkness
And pushing through the lies
How tenderly He calls you
His arms are open wide
you can hear it here…

OOOOOOH! What is your ONE WORD?
Mine: Sustain
purpose.
i love your word.
PERFECT word:) I love how HE does that!
WOW. What a song!
I should add that " Testify To Love" means so much to me personally, because its based on Acts 20:24, and my life has been so rough living it out, but at the end of the day, as long as I've shown HIM to the world around me with everything I am, then I can rest easier. " Witness in the silences when words are not enough" favorite line of the song:)
I want " Testify To Love" inside angel wings as a tattoo on my back. Planning on it when I visit Nashville again:) Not sure exactly when that will happen, but it gives me a wonderful excuse to go including the amazing friends I have there:)
What would you do if you knew you couldn't/wouldn't fail?
I'd front up to a manager and sign a record deal and all that follows.
I'd also start a youth-group that reaches to and caters to all the kids in our area, work with the ones with the issues, see their lives turned around by and for Christ, and watch them change the world, simply by stopping the cycle of crap that's going on. Jesus revalution, baby!! (I love me some teenagers. They have my heart)
jen…why dont you??
Um, becasue they only just got rid of the (really bad) youth leader at our church. There is a meeting in a couple of weeks about Adam and I stepping back from the music team a little more (if possible) and starting a proper youth group. But it's all very tentative at the moment. I'm also not really qualified to do all that stuff. Which is where the hesitancy coes from. I've got the stickability, but those kids take a BUNCH of work and energy… and I have 6 of my own.
As to the first… I don't think there is one up here. And I wouldn't know the first thing about that industry anyways.
And HEY!! No fair… you never answered.
"I'm also not really qualified to do all that stuff."
youve heard it before im sure…but im writing it out for you anyway…
God doesnt call the qualified – He qualifies the called.
if this passion is a calling…then its in you.
as to my answer…
walk into a publishers office, hand him all my chapters and beg for help.
What terrifies you right now?
For me, I believe God's starting to breathe new vision and dreams into my life. And what I can see freaking terrifies me.
almost the exact same thing that terrifies you. only my vision and dreams are years old….and im STILL fleshing them out. i get "terrified" that i wont accomplish them.
Hi Tam,
as usual, a few days late on the exercise, but here goes. What is your definition of peace?
Mine, knowing that God knows me like no-one on earth, and still loves me.
peace defined for me almost always comes in times of deep prayer and communion.
and i also echo your answer. it is amazing that He would even look our way. wow.
If you could be any animal in the world for a day, what would it be and why?
Me? A giraffe so I could see far in the distance. Or Big Bird so I could be yellow (I love yellow)
youd want to be big bird cuz you like yellow? that is hilarious!
hmmm. an animal for a day… probably a cat. a reeeeal spoiled cat. mostly cuz theres nothing better than a good back scratchen!
