Bake it baby…

bikinibird.jpg

It’s almost that time!

Who doesn’t eat turkey? Do you cook a ham, prime rib, tofu for Thanksgiving Day?

And I realize, not everyone here celebrates Thanksgiving. Many of you, my friends, in other countries do not observe this Holiday…I’m so sorry. You can totally come over and enjoy it with us!

Who’s going out to shop on black friday?

Not. Me. No interest, whatsoever, in doing that. I have a hard enough time as it is playing well with others. Mnope.

What’s your favorite pie?

Mine…Pumpkin. Actually, I like whipped cream pie with a little pumpkin underneath.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

  1. 1. I eat Turkey only because I have to… I can't manage Turkey in October, November and December! Give me a Ham, Roast lamb or beef any day… Oh in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October… to celebrate Harvest time… Makes sense to me. ;) A holiday on a thursday when I have to work Wednesday and Friday, makes no sense.

    2. Shopping at anytime…YUCK… at the butt crack of dawn…TRIPLE YUCK! Y'all have lost your minds to go stand in a line at 3a.m.

    3. I have a new favorite in terms of pie… It's called Banoffee Pie. It's like a Banana Cream pie but with toffee and mounds of whipped Cream… VERY yummy! Pumpkin pie… not so much.

  2. Not a big fan of turkey eating, but I do enjoy cooking it. We'll be at some friends this year so I don't get to cook….BOO!

The best thing about the internet is that I never have to enter a mall again…..EVER. Should there ever be a day of the year that I absolutely HAD to, it dang sure would not be black Friday.

Ummmm PIE! I don't care what word you put in front of PIE, but that would be my favorite :D .

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

  3. Thanksgiving. Growing up it was always turkey. I prefer chicken (totally NOT the same). This thanksgiving (which we celebrated in October up here), I was working and didn't cook. But, if I had my choice. I think I'd just cook up some chicken. Or ham.

I second Cheryl on the whole shopping thing.

Pie. Um. I don't like pie. :-/ The only pie I could ever stomach was Gramma's Coconut Cream (homemade of course). One request. Don't ever put an apple pie in front of me if you expect me to keep my turkey (chicken, prime rib, tofu, whatever) down. That's probably just as much a request for your wellbeing as mine. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

    • we're celebrating Thanksgiving with Canadians this year! They couldn't do the Canadian Thanksgiving this year, so they're coming over to celebrate this one with us. They're bringing some of their Canandian favorites. It's been fun to talk about the food and have her laugh over what Americans do. haha! Plus they don't think it's weird that I already have my tree up. She said in Canada, after their Thanksgiving, trees are often up in November! ;o)

      • Sounds like you're all gonna have an amazing time! :) What are their "Canadian favorites?" :)

And, it's still a little weird when the Christmas tree is up in November. ;-) haha! I have lots of friends who put their trees up a couple of days after halloween. The only reason I put a tree up is because of the lights. (I like shiny things). So that'll wait until the 24th of Dec. or so.

Have an amazing time with your friends for Thanksgiving! :-) Don't eat "too" much.

  4. Love the Turkey. Add a side of mashed potatoes with some corn, stuffing and rolls…call it Thanksgiving.

As for pie…Coconut Cream is the way I roll.

  5. Who doesn’t eat turkey? Do you cook a ham, prime rib, tofu for Thanksgiving Day?

Turkey. Though in the recent past I have had Cornish Game Hens, they were quite tasty.

Who’s going out to shop on black friday?

    Nope

    What’s your favorite pie?

My mom's pecan pie. Warmed with whipped cream on top.

  6. 1: ham and turkey and potroast. all that delish goodness. im going to pretend i don't have high cholesterol for one day =]
    2. not going out shopping for black friday.
    3. banana cream pie from marie callenders =] mmmmm

  7. 1. Not a fan of any of the traditional thanksgiving items. Why does america make 'dressing' or 'stuffing' or whatever on Thanksgiving but don't eat it the rest of the year? Because nobody likes it. ick.
    2. Um. no.
    3. Peach, please. And, no, it's not in season around Thanksgiving. So I'll be forced to eat Apple. Again, ick.

I'm really not a scrooge. I don't know what's wrong with me. I've got all negative answers to your no-neg-november post here. sorry

  8. 1. We're doing Turkey AND Ham this year. ;o) We're doing the turkey, friends are bringing a ham.

    2. Just the thought of BF makes me break out in a cold sweat. NO THANK YOU! Jake however, wants to go just to people watch. I love people watching, but that would make me crazy. The whole idea of Black Friday drives me insane. We take one day out of the year to be thankful for all we're given, and then turn around the next day and go crazy shopping and buying and accumulating MORE…. as if we don't already have enough. As if we didn't just give thanks the day before for all we're freely given…. we have to go and become crazy people fighting to get the best deal on things that we most likely do not need…. WOW! Where did that come frome?! LOL

    3. I like pumpkin pie a lot, but in recent years I've liked it less and less. Not sure why. We're having pumpkin, custard (EW!), apple, and pecan pie this year. Jake requested the custard and pecan. I do however LOVE pudding pies. oh yes!

  9. Turkey yes (old fashioned way with tons of butter), but we add Tamales and rice and beans (hey we're s. California's)

Never shop on Black Friday. I hate shopping with crowds.

pecan pie warmed with ice cream or a famous blackberry cobbler my mom makes.

  10. I love turkey! We usually have turkey, ham, pork loin & brisket.

I usually love Black Friday shopping, but skipping it this year.

Pecan pie is my absolute favorite pie. The pioneer Woman’s to be exact! :)

  11. My grandma lives in Arizona and had a giant tamale making party at her house for Thanksgiving! They move away and suddenly get all wild and crazy on us! Them and all their friends… don't know what to think about it, except that I wish I could get some of those tamales in the mail…
