“Persons are judged to be great because of the positive qualities they possess, not because of the absence of faults”
We all do it.
We focus on the negative. And somehow, we allow that one negative to disrupt all potential.
I do it. I admit it. It’s the one thing, I feel, that has held me back from completing my book much sooner than now. Dwelling on the negatives.
BUT, this is NO Negative November here at InProgress.
SO, today…it is your job to share, at least, three positive qualities about yourself. It’s ok. DO IT.
This isn’t about bragging or being arrogant – this is about giving ourselves permission to see, realize, accept and articulate that we have good in us.
We ALL have good in us. Magnifying our faults isn’t an act of humility and it doesn’t foster the good to grow.
If we don’t believe in ourselves and have confidence in our abilities…who else will?
Give yourself permission to see the positive in you – the abilities within you – the good you can offer. then, you won’t need others approval.
I’ll start.
1- I’m a good listener.
2- I have a good sense of humor.
3 – I am approachable.
See. They’re not mind-blowing. But they’re a part of me. And they are what make me, me. It’s a start.
Your turn…
1. I'm funny.
2. I can sing
3. I can cook.
i know youre funny…i love you sense of humoUr.
i'd love to hear you sing some day tho…would be cool!
Dude! Today is a tough day for the positive, but I'll try
.
1. I'm keeping my mouth shut about election results—trust me, that's POSITIVE
2. Emeril Lagasse wishes he could cook like me
3. I'm a good Dad
you called me dude.
that makes me smile.
yes, you are a good dad!
I have a good sense of humor and can make fun of myself
I love to give
I find the positive in most anything.
how do you love giving the most?
I am easy-going, calm, and patient when working with kids.
I love fiercely and am very loyal.
I love to learn and gather all sorts of information to share with others.
mmm I've learned that about myself. I work with kids very well. I didn't think I use to, but I guess I do … kids complain when they have to go home with their parents … oops =)
i love #2. its a rarity these days.
i love it, but it's tricky at times…still working on boundaries and when to let go…
I am passionate about life,
I work hard.
Very loyal
you are SO a hard worker, heidi!!
I'm a good listener.
I'm a good dad.
I redefine sarcastic… wait, just because I think that's a positive, does that make it so? Ok, we'll go with that.
haha!!! #3 fits in the guidelines as far as i'm concerned!
Give me a scenario, and I can tell you everything that could potentially go wrong, instantly.
I want people to feel loved.
Me and my hubby don't yell at each other, or our kids.
(Disclaimer: this is all Christ in me. Without Him, I'd be a blubbering pile of mush)
Three things…… I like this exercise.
1. I'm a well-rounded musician.
2. I'm good at follow through.
3. I am a hard worker.
probably a year ago, I would've hated this. But God has done some major surgery in softening my heart towards myself. Amen…
I found this hard to do without being self depreciating on each thing.
and you did great, Jen!!!
heh… it was just a matter of not typing it.
what instruments do you play?
im glad you had "surgery"
guitar, drums (set, auxillary) some piano, banjo. Sometimes I sing. But I don't like to show I can sing because I feel nekked without a guitar and just singing. Dunno where to put my hands, where to look, etc…
My husband is like that. He looks really awkward
how about playin guitar while you sing??
I’m an encourager.
I am a great cook.
I am learning to laugh at my faults.
i love number 3. i love it because you are still in the process of it, yet you can see the positive in it. well done!
totally agree with the encourager!!! your encouragement is such a blessing!!!
1. I am creative.
2. I see the glass as "half full."
3. I love to laugh.
yes.
yes.
yes.
i LOVE all these things about you, friend!
7 – in spite of my counting disability, I’m a very happy person.
=)
good job!
1. I LOVE to laugh and LOVE people ( does that count as two?)
2. I'm a great listener and encourager
3. I am loyal.
laughing has some amazing curing properties!
1. i have a compassionate and loving heart
2. i love my hair ((a little superficial, sorry, but its true))
4. i don't give up on those i love
#2 – i never hear people compliment their own hair. nicely done!
its black and insanely curly. . .it's my defining physical feature, very unruly, and unique. . .i always say the Lord gave me my curls to remind me that i am not in control
that is fantastic!
1. I am a good listener
2. I love to give to others (not just material stuff)
3. I am honest
i gravitate toward honest people. its one of the first qualities i look for in others.
1- I have a very positive outlook about life.
2- I am good at working as part of a team.
3- I can laugh at my own mistakes.
#1 you certainly do. and it inspires me time and time again, ed!
hmmm…ok. said by others.
now…how about 3 positives that you are fully aware of in yourself??
i love that quote.
#3 is so important!
Oops… yes. It was supposed to say "wrong or right, instantly." But focusing on the "right" part is an act of discipline. That goes back to the battle in my mind
I never saw this as a gift, until my old youth pastor decided that I would be great for helping to plan camps and major events. It's what my mom did for fifteen years, so I probably learned some of that for her.
thats a start!
I love my husband unashamedly.
I can crochet pretty well.
I can count to three.
oh, wait…
I make some mean tasting cookies. (chocolate chip [not tollhouse] & salted oatmeal white chocolate)
1. I am loyal
2. I have good work ethic
3. I am an encourager
